Let your children create a “pet rock” by decorating a rock using markers, yarn, sequins, felt, and anything else you think might be interesting. It can be spooky, silly, glamorous, or alien. They can also make a house for their pet rock using a shoe box. Print out the “All About My Pet Rock” booklet so they can fill in all the information about their pet rock. Have them read the booklet to you to practice their reading skills. This is a great way to let them use their imagination. Hint: When you print the “All About My Pet Rock” booklet, print one page then put it back into the printer the correct direction to print the second page on the back. Then it will be in booklet form.
Oh I love this.. we are fresh out of rocks or I would let the kids make one. Ha ha… cute idea!
That is a very cute pet rock. I had never thought to make them a house or to create a bio. I’m curious, are they all a bit hard headed?
What a great idea! I remember Pet Rocks from the 70s — I think it was the 70s?? This will make the perfect project for this weekend. We can start with a nice long walk in search of the perfect rock to turn into a pet! Thanks!
This is just the sort of quirky project that my grandkids will love!
Ah! Such a great idea. Will definitely be doing this with my grandson. I love the “house” suggestion. Bubby will likely want to make a “garage” for his, too, just in case his pet rock has a truck of some sort.
Can’t wait till my grandsons are old enough to do this. I’m keeping a file of all your ideas!
This really is a great idea! It turned out so cute!!
Thank you so much for the great idea. She is 4 years old and I babysit on Friday nights. I am always looking for fun things to do with her. If you more ideas let me know? thank you Elaine
These were big in the 70’s!
