This is the 9th year of my annual Chili Fest but the problem is the last 3 years we haven’t had chili. It got too complicated when everyone had a different idea about what kind of chili they wanted – no meat but beans, no beans but meat, meat and beans, or no chili at all. I decided to fix something that I knew everyone would be happy with and it wasn’t chili. So, we needed a new name for the annual event. We decided on Non-Chili Fest.
Highlights from this year.
The kids table.
There was a treasure hunt to find the goodie bags then they were dumped all over the floor.
Always a favorite, see how much candy you can pile on one sugar cookie!
how about The most complicated family feast….
I say we keep it the chili fest and continue on with the tradition of not having chili, it’s too bad that Tony is so picky!
Looks like fun. How about Chili-less Fest, No Chili Fest, or if your climate allows Chilly Fest?
Or make it more of a chili bar with a variety of chili’s or toppings and they can mix them however they like.
I love the idea of a chili fest with no chili! One of those family traditions that only the family would understand. Love it! I wouldn’t change a thing if I were you.
Thanks for the great ideas. Maybe we’ll put it to a vote the next time my family is together.
Looks like so much fun! I am in awe of the events that you and Grandma Shelley cook up for your grands.
I like Grandma Shelley’s idea of the Chilly Fest, but I’m also with Lisa that the idea of a Chili Fest where chili isn’t served is one of those ideas that could become a family tradition. If you always do it near Halloween, you could call it a Spooktacular Supper.
