The women in my family have a fun Christmas tradition that has be going on for 10 years. The first Saturday in December we gather for a pot luck lunch and a service project. Most years we make items to donate but this year we all brought food for the local food bank. We also made cards and gifts tags. It was fun to see how creative everyone was and to catch up on life events.
so sad that I missed it. I love this tradition
What a wonderful tradition! I think it is definitely one we will be starting, too.
One of the traditions I have kept going started when our children were young. We had a tradition of writing each other a letter that had to be 100% positive thanking the recipients for things they did that adds to the joy in our family. We would slip our sealed envelopes into the Christmas stockings and we would open them and read them quietly when we were all comfortable in a darkened room lit by candles and the fireplace. It turned out to be my favorite night of the year. It always ended in lots of hugs and tears of joy. As the kids married and started their own families some of them have kept this going in their families. I have made it my goal to write each person a personal note that they are to open on Christmas Eve. They all look forward from their letters from Grandma.
Grandma Henke, What I like about your tradition is that the letters can be saved and read any time of the year. What a great way to keep memories. I’ll bet your family cherishes the letters.
I love this tradition. We really need a girls’ night without the men and children in my family, too. I don’t think it will happen this year, but maybe next year! Grandma Henke, your tradition is one that I will steal, too.
I love my memory books! They are adorable and I am excited to show them off to my friends and family. Thank you so much for sending them!!! They are awesome.
I’ll bet you’ll do some fun and creative things with them.
